Brisbane's Bikeways

Exploring Brisbane by bicycle is a great way to take in the sights and enjoy the sunshine. There is an incredible 520 kilometres of bikeways in Brisbane with a further 1180 kilometres in the planning stages.

If you're starting out in the CBD take The Bicentennial Bikeway along Coronation Drive to Toowong. Why not ride one way and enjoy a relaxing cruise along the river on the return journey? Just jump on the Citycat at the University of Queensland or North Quay to bring you back into the city.

There are numerous other spectacular bikeways outside the city centre. Some popular rides include the Wynnum Manly Esplanade, Sandgate Foreshores, Boondall Wetlands and numerous cycling experiences around the city's Universities.

Brisbane bikeways are shared by cyclists, pedestrians, skateboards, scooters, rollerblades and micro-electrics of less than 200 watts. Helmets are compulsory when cycling in public places.

For further information on cycling around Brisbane including maps and bikeway safety rules pick up the Brisbane Bicycle Experience Guide from Brisbane City Council Libraries and Tourism Information Centres.
